After coming back from NYC, I realised that I had just missed out on a Thai-inspired ice cream craze that was starting to pick up over there. I wasn’t worried though seeing as it was only a matter of time before the trend would make its way over here to Australia. And alas, here it is.
Rolled? Stir-fried? Teppanyaki styled ice cream? These are some of the names that you’ve probably heard this Asian dessert being called. To give you the low down: it’s ice cream that is prepared and mixed with other ingredients over a cold plate, spread into a thin layer, and then scraped from end to end using a grill scraper to make the ice cream rolls above.
